About Me

I was born on January 22, 1945, Dallas, Texas to Frances Louise Pasqua Morgan and James W. Morgan Sr., Italian and Welsh immigrant families. I met and fell in love with Joseph in 1980 and one year later we covenanted together to become life partners and we will celebrate 28 years together this June.

I was raised in the Roman Catholic faith, attending St. Edwards Academy in Dallas, Texas for grades1-9. My father suffered a broken back  at his job when I was fifteen and was hospitalized for over a year.

From my earliest memory I had always wanted to serve God as a priest; but because of my fathers’ accident the need in the family eclipsed my vocation.  Also my High School attendance was an on again, off again situation as I had to work to supplement the family income. I obtained my G.E.D. in Corpus Christi, Texas January 10, 1967. The move to the coast of Texas in the mid 60’s seemed to be the answer to prayer as I was able to begin the process of entering Holy Spirit Minor Seminary in Corpus Christi, Texas. All seemed to go well until a personal revelation led me to withdraw.  I had been struggling with my sexual orientation for a couple of years and it all culminated in my realizing and understanding that I was indeed a gay man. Self acceptance was not to happen for several more years as I grappled with all the ‘why’ questions.

I studied for and received my Bachelor of Theology from International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida in 1993. I am currently working on my Masters of Theology at International.

I came to Ogden, Utah for the first time in January of 1996 and met a group of 16 people who wanted to organize a MCC. We talked and Joseph and I returned in February to attempt to ascertain God’s will in this matter. Joseph and I had laid a fleece before the Lord and God answered it. It was decided that we would return to Alaska with the express purpose of the retiring of all debts, the liquidating of non essential belongings for the purpose of accepting the call to Ogden. I returned to Ogden in June of 1996 to become the founding pastor of the then Metropolitan Community Church of Ogden. In the subsequent 13 years the church has grown and in that process become more spiritually mature. We have undergone division, name changes, disassociation from our denomination and becoming an Independent church, moving to three different properties, to owning our present sanctuary and property.  The journey has been exciting, challenging, and sometimes sad but always it has been worthwhile.

I am reminded that in the scriptures that Jesus doesn’t promise rest for good work; but more work and He promises the strength to complete it. St. Paul says in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  to God be the glory. I said that to say this. I believe that we are now ready for the next stage of the work that Jesus Christ has called myself and this courageous group of souls called Glory To God Christian Church to do. I know that again in the words of St. Paul, Philippians 1:6 “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” May he find us then as now with our hand firmly planted in His.

I want to leave you with the scripture that brings me the strength I need to keep on keeping on:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NLT)
