How We Worship

Worship of the Lord is the core heart of our life in Jesus Christ at Glory To God American Catholic Church.  Because worship is a celebration of the life of God’s Son, when you come to Glory to God, you may see members of the congregation doing one of these forms of worship: you may see lifted hands in prayer; you may hear shouts of joy and praise; you may see clapping and dancing and hear musical instruments and there are some who praise the Lord in tongues and others who prefer to give God thanks and praise in English. No one way is better than another; no one way more perfect; all ways are acceptable when given to the Lord with a joy-filled heart!

These are all very acceptable to the Lord and give Him all the honor and glory; what began in the Old Testament as songs of praise to Jehovah God, became joyful songs of exaltation and praise in the New Testament with the birth, life and death, resurrection into glory of Jesus Christ.  From 2 Chronicles to 1 Corinthians, praise and worship gives all praise to God for the glory of His wonderful works and love.

  • Why do we stand when we sing in worship?
  • The Levites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice. 2 Chronicles 20:19
  • Why do we clap our hands in worship?
  • O clap your hands all you people: shout unto the Lord with the voice of triumph. Psalm 47:1
  • Why do we wave banners?
  • May we shout for joy at your victory, raise the banners in the name of our God. The LORD grant your every prayer! Psalm 20:5
  • Why do we use instruments in worship?
  • Psalm 150:3-6 lists the musical instruments to be used in praising the Lord. Let everything that lives sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
  • Why do we sing in tongues and in English?
  • For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the Spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.” 1 Corinthians 14:14-15.

To celebrate in worship is a gift from God to His people. Every race and nation, every people land and culture celebrates the LORD with a song of praise. From the very old to the very young, we all celebrate with praise with joy to the Lord. Come and praise the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul and strength! For this is what we are made to do; praise God and give Him glory!

Our Praise Team is always looking for new members! If you are interested in singing, playing an instrument, or the technical side of things, there is always room for you to share your talent with the praise team and the congregation. If you are interested, please contact Joseph.
